Lot clearing runs on a compact track loader, a tracked skid steer, with two tools. The brush mower cuts tall grass and weeds and leaves them cut on the ground. The masticating head, a drum mulcher, turns brush, saplings and small trees into mulch on the spot.
The finished lot is open ground you can walk from the street to the back line. Mulch covers the ground, and the soil stays in place. You can see the shape of the ground and the trees worth keeping.
A notice from the city or the fire district names the work and the date it is due. An HOA letter about an overgrown lot works the same way. We size the lot clearing to what the notice or the letter asks for. Lots that grow back every year are a fit for seasonal weed abatement.
Selling a home in a high or very high fire hazard severity zone adds a step. State law, Civil Code 1102.19, has the seller give the buyer paperwork showing the property meets defensible space rules. Without it, seller and buyer sign an agreement for the buyer to get it.
